Contemporary museums and the art of furnishing

A museum must dare to be different. Catching the eye and seeking the attention it needs. This particular demand of a customised interior has resulted in successful projects to design and deliver beautiful solutions for the National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden, The Tropenmuseum and Museum Hermitage in Amsterdam, Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden and the Belasting & Douanemuseum [Cutsoms and Excise] Museum in Rotterdam.

A visit to a museum has now become an experience. Static museums are making way for modern museums in which image, sound and interaction with visitors plays a major role. The interior and architecture of a museum have actually become part of the tour. This requires a special, innovative and fitting design without compromising the collections in the exhibition. Designing and producing special customised furniture is one of the main attributes of Keijsers Interiors, co-creator of Interior Group.

We understand the art of furnishing, presenting and making special pieces of furniture for large and small museums like no other. In recent years, Keijsers Interiors has designed many public spaces, museum shops and exhibitions. These include both small and complex interior projects, either directly for museums or on behalf of architectural firms. We supply the entrance desks, seating furniture, cabinets & showcases, columns and other exhibition furniture for art installations.

Museum design has become an important specialisation for us, and we can often make a huge difference. In the museums part of our inspiration page, you will find great photos of the different interiors we have delivered with both fixed pieces and striking furniture. We love museums.
