De Kom is a cultural institution to be proud of. This new building has given Nieuwegein an enormous and cutting-edge theater complex. The main hall has a sizeable stage, a seating capacity of 650, a fly loft, an orchestra pit and side stages, making it suitable for large theatrical productions. The second hall is flat-floored with retractable bleachers that seat 200. Three foyers are available to the theatergoers, all of which are perfect for live performances, lectures and festivals.

Together with designers from the firm Architecten Cie., Keijsers' engineers devised solutions for a number of problems with the acoustics. Keijsers installed veneered paneling in the theater hall and was also commissioned to install poplar-wood wall coverings in the public areas, the entire entrance hall, the reception desk, the toilets and on the lettering. The result was a highly artistic interior.
